Abstract
Purpose This study was investigating the effects of the paretic palm contact enhancement program on postural alignment,
balance, and gait in stroke patients.

Methods 26 subjects were randomly assigned. The intervention period was 8 weeks
for 30 minutes 3times a week. study group (n=13) applied paretic palmar contact enhancement program; control group
(n=13) applied paretic conventional upper limb exercise program. For the evaluation of postural alignment, trunk
alignment and plantar pressure were measured, and for the evaluation of gait, step length and gait symmetry index were
performed before and after the intervention.

Results Significant difference in the amount of change in trunk length, trunk
inclination, thoracic angle, kyphotic angle, lordotic angle(p<.05), plantar pressure in the anterior/posterior/left/right weight
distribution between groups (p<.05). step length (p<.05), step width, and stride symmetry index (p<.001).

Conclusion Paretic palmar contact enhancement program improved trunk alignment and balance ability of stroke patients, and was effective for step length, symmetry, and width.
